COERR’s Repair and Maintenance of Child Friendly Space in Temporary Shelters

   It is COERR’s objective to enable displaced children in 9 temporary shelters along the Thai-Myanmar border to enjoy normalcy in living and develop life skills through playing in a safe and friendly environment called Child Friendly Space (CFS) built as center for child’s proper learning and development. It is expected that the CFS is a recreation center in which tools and materials are equipped for all children of all genders and ages can learn and play, thus encourage and motivate their creative imagination.

   During July, COERR distributed construction materials for displaced persons and staff to repair the CFS, and then installed some new tables, chairs, shelves for books and toys and other necessities tools, books, musical instruments for kids, sports equipment likes balls, drawing boards, toys for cognitive development, exercise kits, etc.

In July, the number of children attending Child
Friendly Space in Ban Mai Nai Soi were 944 persons including 471 female and 473 male.
In Ban Mae Surin there were 152 participants of 92 female and 60 male.

In Mae Sarieng area, there were 852 children and youth attending Mae La Oon CFS, of which 462 were female and 390 were male. While in Mae Lama Luang, there were 745 participants including 354 female and 391 male.

In Mae Sod area, the CFS in Ban Mae La camp had 485 youth of 464 female and 381 male.
In Umpiem, there were 131 participants, of 77 female and 54 male.
In Nupo, there were 232 youth attending child friendly space, of which 133 were female and 99 were male.

In Kanchanaburi area, the CFS in Ban Don Yang camp had 347 children and youth attended, of which 214 were female and 133 were male. In Ban Tham Hin camp had 123 children of 60 female and 63 male.
